2024 UK Skimboard Meetup Recap – Mother Ivey’s Bay, Cornwall
Our annual UK skimboard meetup this year was awesome. Held at the picturesque Mother Ivey’s Bay in Cornwall on May 6th, 2024, the day was blessed with sunny skies and a slight breeze, perfect for a gathering of over 30 skimboarding enthusiasts. With 10-15 riders hitting the water, the energy was electric despite the smaller-than-expected swell.
Though the waves weren’t massive, the conditions provided plenty of opportunity for fun and technical mastery. Owen Alp was the standout performer on the day, showing how to make the most of smaller waves. His top tip? Start your turn into the wave earlier to maintain more speed. This advice helped riders adapt to the playful conditions and squeeze every ounce of performance out of the waves.
Scott Fozard, unsurprisingly, brought his A-game to the tricks session. Fresh off multiple top ten finishes in this year’s European Skimboarding Cup, and currently sitting 16th overall, Scott wowed the crowd with his precision and flair. His competitive edge was clear, but he also added to the relaxed, friendly vibe of the day.
With the sun shining and good company all around, it was a great day to celebrate skimboarding, connect with fellow riders, and enjoy the beauty of Cornwall’s coast. Looking forward to even bigger things next year!
